The Salonnière Helene von Nostitz, friend and mentor of the young writer Gerhard René Podbielski, lived at Goethestrasse  in Berlin-Zehlendorf between 1928 and 1943, when the house was destroyed by a British firebomb. I use historical city maps and plans for the reconstruction for my Podbielski family research. The website histomapberlin (Landesarchiv + Beuth Hochschule für Technik Berlin) is a versatile tool. It provides Berlin city maps from 1927 until today (scale 1:4000), which can be crossfaded as you wish.

I have learned some new things also about the history of my own neighborhood. If you also live in Berlin or if you feel connected to an address here, you should really give it a try!
